Lovage has a shrubby habit and needs a lot of space. It has quite a distinct flavour to the leaves and the stems which can be used as an alternative to celery in salads, soups and many other dishes. Lovage can reach as much as 2m (79″) tall and makes an excellent architectural plant for the back of the border.
Scatter a few seeds in the growing site and rake in or cover with soil. Germination time is approximately two to three weeks. Does best in a rich, fairly moist soil. Water well and thin seedlings as required. Prefers rich garden soil that retains moisture, ideally in full sun.
